Why a salon business plan is important

To cut through the competition, you’ll need a carefully thought-out salon business plan. Think about it – you open a new salon and want clients through the doors… but this dream could easily fall flat without a detailed plan of action! Whether you’re a new or experienced salon owner, don’t overlook our list of reasons why a business plan is important.

A clear journey

It’s vital to see where you’re going, and a salon business plan does exactly that! More importantly, it shows you how you’re going to get there. Create a strong mission statement, plan a smooth journey and you’ll reach your destination with the shortest and most cost-effective route possible.

Break down your costings

Armed with your salon business plan, you’ll be able to work out your running costs. Figure out the cost of your staff, products, rent and all other outgoings along with your average service cost and you’ll be able to work out the number of treatments you’ll need to carry out to break-even. You can then use these figures to forecast your financials!

Identify strengths and weaknesses

Do you know your strengths? Okay, apart from being a much-loved stylist who’s there for your clients! Creating a new business plan identifies what your salon’s strengths and weaknesses are. This helps combat problems such as what services have become too costly to maintain, or staff scheduling issues.

Outline a marketing strategy

This is more fun than it sounds! Your salon business plan will help break down your clientele on age, gender and what they need when they come in. By doing this, you can clearly see who your target audience is and cater to their needs through lively social media posts, engaging emails or adaptable window displays.

Set yourself apart

Check out your local competition and write your findings in your salon business plan. Chances are, you’ll see what your competitors don’t offer and can create a unique selling point to set yourself apart.

Now you’ve spruced up your business plan, why not let Salon by Premier Software® help run your salon?
