How to maintain social distancing around the salon

As lockdown slowly lifts, it’s vital to enforce social distancing when you reopen the salon. With so many clients ready to rush in for a haircut, you need to make sure both they and your staff remain safe in your salon! So, grab your hand sanitiser and do up your salon with these social distancing ideas.

Change treatment length

Changing the length of treatments will make social distancing easier amongst clients. After all, this will not only make sure they have space to move to and from their chair, but also give you time to clean the area. This can be fixed easily within Salon by Premier Software® under the Appointments menu.

Stagger staff rotas

Social distancing isn’t just for clients, it’s for your staff’s safety too! This can be done by simply adjusting staff rotas to make sure too many aren’t in at any one time. You can do this in a variety of ways, from staggered starts and lunch breaks to just reducing their hours – it’s all easy within Salon!

Contactless payments

If you haven’t already, set-up an electronic point of payment to maintain social distancing. Premier’s Payment Solution enables transactions online through its payment gateway, in partnership with Monek. You can also make use of its countertop terminals for easy contactless payments in the salon.

Waiting areas

Minimising client wait time is super important, so make sure to text clients when you’re ready for their appointment. Once they arrive, however, they may still need to wait! To keep clients socially distancing, put screens between the seats and move them two metres apart, wiping them down after each use.

Posters and signage

A great way of reminding clients to stick to social distancing is by putting up posters around the salon! That way, you can remind them where to wait, that they should attend their appointment on their own, and to stay behind the line at reception.
