We all love a good Bank Holiday, but did you know this year’s May Day is moving back a bit? May Day would normally take place on the first Monday of May, but this year it will be pushed back to Friday 8th May. That means your salon and spa staff need to prepare their rotas to work around this.
Why change the date?
The change in date is to coincide with the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, or VE Day. Friday 8th May marks when the European fight against Nazi Germany came to a halt during World War II.
So, by shifting the usual Bank Holiday date from Monday 4th May back four days, it means everyone can celebrate this momentous anniversary together! Although, it would have been nice to have two Bank Holidays in the same week…
How will you prepare?
Make sure your staff are fully aware of the change in Bank Holiday. They may have already thought up plans for the Bank Holiday weekend… only to reach it and discover it no longer lasts three days! Let them know of the details and should they need to amend their holiday to work around it, you will be able to help them, accordingly.
Will you be open?
As many salons close on Monday, you may need to consider whether you’d like to be open on the Monday before or after VE Day, instead choosing to close-up on Friday 8th March. No matter what hours you decide to remain open or closed, make sure you have staff cover by managing rotas in your software.
With Salon by Premier Software® its simple to close columns and cover changes in staff rotas to make way for the new Bank Holiday. For more information on Salon or to book a free webinar or presentation, call: +44 (0)1543 466580 or visit: www.premiersoftware.uk/book-a-consultation
