Top tips to help source the best staff.

Here at Premier we like to help our clients as much as possible, including assisting you to get the best staff for your business. How do you find the right talent or personality? Here are our top tips to help source the best staff:

Prior to the process-
Focus on the job rather than the candidate. Understand what position you are trying to fill –  consider your forecasts, goals and objectives. From this you can work out the skills needed for that job role.

During-
Plan your recruitment process. Organise a meeting with your existing employees to discuss the type of candidate you are looking for. This will enable you to not only get a feel for who would work well in the role but who would also fit in with your existing team.

Network. Ask everyone you talk to if they know for anybody who they think would be an ideal candidate for the job. This is a great way to find suitable applicants as you’re getting a direct reference from others you trust rather than reading a piece of paper to get an idea of the person.

Promote your job vacancy on social media platforms along with your salons website. Using these methods, you can reach a larger audience. It’s beneficial to have the job vacancy on your website as the candidate is more likely to read about the business to see if they feel it is the right culture fit for them. This helps ensure you get committed candidates.

Interview. This is an opportunity for you to get to know the candidate on a more personal level. You already know what skills you are looking for, so try to prepare your questions around that. You could ask the applicant questions about their aspirations, their experience and why they want to work for your business. Couple this with a short practical test to see how they interact with clients.

We hope those tips can help you and your business during the recruitment process and that it will help make the process much easier!
