How to Support Clients in the Cost of Living Crisis

During the cost of living crisis, it is important clients feel welcome and supported to your salon or hotel facilities. With everyday prices soaring, it is easy for clients to cut out additional costs such as spa treatments or gym membership. Therefore, we share invaluable methods to support your clients in other ways to encourage retention during the current economic climate.

 

Tackle the cost of living by offering warm spaces

The present cost of living crisis may deter clients from visiting for their usual hair or beauty treatment, or exercise routine. With this in mind, you can attract and support clients in other ways, such as by offering a warm and safe environment to take away their economic stresses and strains. These free spaces could be as simple as offering comfortable chairs and soothing music, accessible at reception to all (and not just those with an existing booking).

 

Offer free tea and coffee

Picture a scenario where you visit a friend and they don’t offer you tea or coffee – scandalous! The same could be said when visiting your facilities. Such a simple offering makes us feel welcome and valued, with beverages such as tea also relaxing us. However, offering these for free or a discounted rate has the benefit of taking the client’s mind off additional costs. These could even be offered in those inviting, warm spaces, mentioned above.

 

Provide hot showers during the cost of living crisis

Prospective clients will be thinking about hot water and the cost of energy. As a business, you could offer your shower facilities to help those struggling in the current cost of living climate. Whilst your business will also be contending with the same crisis as everyone else, the value of making visitors feel clean and valued is priceless, as they will want to return. These could even be at set hours of the day such as quieter hours to ensure visitors aren’t fighting for space.

 

Combat cost of living with discounted memberships

Many will consider cancelling their spa and gym facility membership over the current climate. However, offering discounted memberships can encourage members to stay. Whether this is discounting all memberships for 2023 or by offering a new type of membership at a discount for set hours of the day, cutting these costs for a temporary period is vital for keeping existing members.
