How to Increase Social Media Followers for Your Business

With over 4.76 billion people on social media around the world (according to Kepios), it’s well worth taking the time to increase social media followers and grow your audience. Through doing this, you can expand your potential salon or spa client base, or lead interested clients to further sales. To help expand your followers, we’ve put together several tips you can easily implement.

Increase social media followers with engaging content

The first step to increase social media followers is to post content people want to see. To get an idea of this, take a look at your competitors and see what they’re posting, making note of what is getting more likes, views and comments. Often, content related to people performs well, with visual and video content regularly taking the lead, so you could post pictures of your team’s best work from the salon or spa, all the way through to behind-the-scenes footage. We have plenty to help your salon social thrive, such as these five social media ideas for your salon that are easy to implement. No matter the case, make sure your salon is doing it right on social media by inserting your personality, making your business come across as more personable and worth following.

Use engagement to increase social media followers

Imagine talking to someone who doesn’t respond – it’s frustrating and you’ll likely stop after a while. The same applies on social media. So, by liking and positively commenting on other people’s content, you open up a line of communication for them to engage back. Chances are, they will check some of your own content and follow your amazing work! It’s then important you respond to any comments on your own posts, keeping that communication open two-ways.

Search for popular and relevant hashtags

Hashtags are magical because they can place your content in front of people searching for those tags. With Instagram, you can use the ‘Search’ field to look for the most popular hashtags that relate to the content you want to put out, such as #HalloweenNails or #ChristmasMakeover. You can then use these in the caption of your post or even a comment (your preference)! It’s also important to use any hashtags that are location-specific to attract your local community, and anything you want that is unique to a campaign you’d like to run.

Putting relevant hashtags in your posts will make it easier for people to find what they’re looking for, reaching new audiences and gaining traction. This also works if you keep on top of the latest trends and hashtags association with them too, helping you increase views and followers by using them. For the best results, Later recommends using between 20-30 hashtags for Instagram, whereas Twitter for Business recommends two focused hashtags for their text limit, and Hootsuite recommends Facebook content should have around three hashtags.

Partner with others to increase social media followers

There are plenty of social media celebrities who have built a reputation around a niche – also known as influencers. As a salon or spa, it may be worth reaching out and partnering with influencers who create content around hair and beauty, particularly those with a large following. These influences can then introduce your business to a new audience, with the aim to grow your own follower base.

You can also partner with other people or businesses to increase your following. For example, you could share user-generated content from well-known hair or beauty ambassadors. This is simply a case of interacting with their content and messaging the user for permission to share their content through your feed via a post or reel. Or perhaps you could partner with local businesses in a local campaign to boost followers in your area? Make sure you tag your partners in any related content to alert them and attract their followers to your feed!

Apply first-class customer service

Sometimes, clients will have a query. Whether it’s about your products or services, make sure to respond in a timely manner and be as helpful as possible. This extends to any… incidents that may occur in the salon or spa.

On occasion, a client may be dissatisfied with their experience, leading to a negative review or sharing their story on social media. It’s vital you respond to their comments quickly and positively to diffuse the situation, making sure to move the conversation out of the public eye where possible. Responding to these comments and looking for a resolution will reflect positively on your brand, putting the client first and showing you care. Using our five steps to best handle client complaints, you can turn a negative situation into a positive one and potentially increase your social media followers.

Salon by Premier Software® helps you create content for social media, which can then be stored and reviewed, ready for posting at the optimal time. Through building up posts in advance, you have more time to focus on responding and engaging with your audience to build followers. To find out how Salon can help you, click the button below.
