How Mindfulness Will Boost Revenue in the Salon or Spa

Mindfulness is a phrase that is often used, but what is it and how can it benefit your salon or spa? Simply put, mindfulness is a when we actively become aware of ourselves and thoughts in that moment, without additional judgement. It is important you take steps to practice mindful techniques to help your team, your business and ultimately your revenue. Here’s how.

 

Take time to breathe and relieve stress

Your staff’s wellbeing directly impacts your salon or spa’s performance, which is why it’s vital to look after them. The first step is to safely identify and manage stress in the workplace, as this can create barriers in your team’s performance. Stress can often manifest as a headache, forgetfulness or being withdrawn, but can be tackled using methods of mindfulness.

There are plenty of techniques your team can use to decompress. One of these is to stop what they’re doing for one minute, close their eyes and listen to their breathing. This helps them focus on the moment and melt away current pressures. Scheduling time between treatments is an easy and effective way to do this, helping staff to relieve stress and remain focused.

 

Motivate your team with mindfulness techniques

Not only can mindfulness de-stress your team, it can create a clear mind to help motivate them. There are various mindfulness techniques you could promote in your salon or spa to help with this, such as our five ways to be mindful. Alternatively, you could encourage members to focus on the colour, feel and details of someone’s hair when washing it, or during a massage. No matter the case, this will help clear your staff’s mind, motivate them to keep going throughout the day, and increase productivity.

 

Mindfulness improves communication

A clear mind helps with communication, making sure everyone is on the same page to work together efficiently. There are plenty of communication-style mindfulness techniques to help with this too. For example, you could make the first two minutes of your team meetings silent. This gives everyone time to arrive and think before you speak with them about the day or week ahead. Similarly, you could do the same for the end, giving them time to breathe before their day starts.

This works by scheduling out a set time during the week where clients can book silent appointments with your team. Ultimately, this provides a much-needed breather for a longer period of time, creating a stress-free environment for all.

 

Cleanliness creates a welcome environment
