Opening a successful new spa can be an exhausting experience without the right advice. Outside of offering introductory promotions and excellent customer service, where do you start? Starting is often the most difficult step, but it need not slow you down with our five top tips to plan ahead:
1: Create a clear identity
What will persuade people to head to your new spa? Create a unique selling point and this will make your spa stand out from the competition, providing you make sure to highlight this on your website, advertising and importantly in your logo. Your USP could be something as simple as offering natural spa treatments or even ocean-inspired treatments if your spa is next to the sea, defining your brand.
2: Plan
It sounds so obvious, but planning is essential for the success of your new spa. Analysing the latest trends and technologies in the industry means you can provide treatments that your target audience wants right now. Looking at what treatments to offer will also help decide what equipment is needed, the staff needed for those treatments, the cost of that equipment and staff, and so on.
3: Provide quality not quantity
Establishing that you’re good at what you do is incredibly important when starting out. It is therefore better to offer a smaller selection of services that your staff are specialised in as opposed to the wider array that you could branch into later. This will help build your reputation, with expert staff helping build your clientele from their professional skills.
4: Consider who you hire
Staff that already have a strong following could bring their clientele to your new spa. If hiring well-established staff is not possible, then employing those with strong interpersonal skills will make up the shortfall with their personality. Combine this with someone who is competent in their field and you will be onto a winner.
5: Pick the perfect products
Your products should reflect your new spa and its identity. If you champion water-based treatments, then why not provide products with natural sea salts or seaweed in, for example? By aligning yourself with reputable brands with the same ethics as your spa, you could attract clients with similar morals. This also helps retail the products at the front of your spa and reception to similar minded individuals
